Overview

############################ Browserscan v.1.2 ###########################

Browserscan is a proxy and bot detection script. It evaluates the
browser headers, and searches for inconsistencies. This allows the
script to detect visitors who are not using a standard web browser.

The script recognizes all current PC and Mac browsers for most Operating
Systems, as well as the most popular search engine crawlers and the W3C
validator. Webmasters have the option of automatically banning violators
or using simple logging for a case-by-case evaluation. Notifications
can be enabled to send an email each time the script detects a suspicious
visitor.

The admin panel allows webmasters to sort entries in the database, view
detailed information about each violating visitor, view ARIN whois data,
visit any associated websites, ban/unban, and delete entries.

// Installation Requirements //

- PHP 4+
- MySQL 4+
- sendmail (to send the outgoing e-mail message)

// Installation Instructions //

1. Create a MySQL database.

2. Edit the variables in the includes/config.php file.

3. Upload the contents of the browserscan folder to the directory you want
to run the script from. Retain all file and folder locations.

4. Point your browser to the includes/db_functions.php file. This will
setup your MySQL tables.
Example: http://www.yoursite.com/browserscan/includes/db_functions.php

5. Paste the following code at the top of any page you want to be
protected. Don't forget to edit the path to point to the correct
file location: <? include("/path/to/browserscan.php"); ?>

6. If the extension on your webpage is not .php, change the extension to .php.
Example: Rename homepage.htm to homepage.php

7. Test the script by visiting your website through an anonymous proxy.

That should be it! Your webpage is now protected from unwanted visitors.
To use the administration panel, point your browser to the admin/admin.php
file.
Example: http://www.yoursite.com/browserscan/admin/admin.php
